Frequently, many people who attempt a fitness journey dive head first into the fitness and nutrition aspect all at once. While some people succeed with this, many do not. I personally believe that it can be too many changes at one time for a person, and so they fail. This is not failing because they don't want to succeed, but failing because they become so overwhelmed with trying to do it the right way.
So for those of you just looking to start out on this journey, try making some small changes to your diet, and your fitness. Some simple changes that you can make for fitness are things like taking the stairs, parking further away, taking long walks, or starting to jog. As far as nutrition goes, start by just swapping out some of the things you already eat, for healthier versions of them. This can be as simple as switching out white rice for brown, sweetened yogurt for greek with fresh fruit, chips for carrots and hummus or nuts, swapping that high calorie drink at Starbucks for just plain iced coffee, and just doing side salads with your meals. Also up your water intake!
As time goes on, you can drop off more of the unhealthy things, and add some better stuff in. For most people when you do these things gradually, you not only learn WHY the choices are better for you but you don't feel quite so overwhelmed. This is what I recommend to anyone looking to start a program (usually during the week it takes for their program to ship to them). That way, when they get the program they are more likely to actually stick with it and change their lives!
